WHAT ARE COOKIES?
A "cookie" is a small text file created by certain websites on the User's computer when the user accesses a particular site, for the purpose of storing and transferring information. Cookies are sent by a web server (which is the computer on which the surfed website is running) to the user's browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and stored on the User's computer; they are then redirected to the website on subsequent visits.
Cookies are generally classified as follows:
- according to the subject that installs them on the user's terminal, depending on whether it is the same operator of the site that the user is visiting (so-called "first-party cookie") or a different site, which installs cookies through the first site (so-called "third-party cookie");
- according to their duration, in persistent cookies, i.e. that remain stored, even after the browser is closed and until a predetermined deadline, on the user's device (such are, by way of example, the cookies used to maintain authentication on the site, avoiding the re-entry of authentication credentials), and in session cookies, which are not permanently stored, but are automatically deleted each time the browser is closed;
- according to the purpose of each cookie: certain cookies allow the website that installed them to remember, for example, the preferences expressed by the user during browsing or to make a purchase or to authenticate (so-called "technical cookies" or " strictly necessary cookies") and are necessary for the proper working of the site or the services enabled or requested by the user; some cookies and similar technologies are provided for the purpose of processing statistical information on the use of the site and its operation in order to measure its performance and thus improve its usability (so-called "analysis and measurement cookies"); other cookies allow the site that installed them to monitor the user's browsing also in order to send advertising or offer services in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web and/or to evaluate the usefulness of advertising campaigns and content presented to the user (so-called profiling cookies or "marketing cookies").

The data subject is free to browse the Website after having read the brief information contained in the appropriate banner and to use the services that entail the installation of cookies.
The Data Controller, according to applicable legislation, is not required to ask for the user's consent in relation to the use of first party technical and/or analytics cookies, as they are necessary to provide the services requested browsing the Website. ACCESS TO THIRD PARTY WEBSITES
As provided by paragraphs above, the Website uses widgets or plug-ins of certain social networks or third parties, listed below. These widgets make it possible to reach "English Lavender" pages on social networks, to like them and to access the Website from the social networks involved after sharing or liking them.
By accessing the Website that contains a social plugin from one of the above-mentioned networks, the User's browser will establish a direct connection to the servers of the respective social networks in the United States, enabling these social networks to receive information about his or her access to the Website.
When a User is logged into his social media profile and visits pages on the Website, the plug-in can tell the servers of the social platforms which pages have been visited and, in the event of a specific action (such as liking or sharing), this information can be linked to the account.
Even if the User is not connected to the respective network, it is possible that the plug-ins transmit his/her IP address to the respective social network.
Below are links to the pages containing the specific information and instructions of the third parties:
- Google Analytics (Google Inc.)
It is a web analytics service that uses "cookies" that are placed on the User's computer to enable the Website to analyse how users use it. Users can prevent these cookies from being stored on their computers by using the "Google Analytics deactivation browser add-on" made available by Google at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. To activate the component, which inhibits the system of sending information on the user's visit, all that is required is to install it following the instructions on the screen, close and reopen the browser;
If it is not possible to disable cookies within the individual platforms mentioned above, the User can use online resources such as: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/it/le-tue-scelte . https://apps.ghostery.com/it/home .
The User is invited to carefully read the notices and policies relating to the use of cookies drafted by third parties and as referred to above, also in order to be aware of any changes made to them by their respective suppliers.
